A perfect dipping sauce to jazz up your health!
Break out the raw veggies and dip, dip, dip away! Ranch dressing was always my go-to salad dressing and dipping sauce when I was younger. Who can resist the tangy and salty flavors that burst in your mouth with each bite? I know I was hooked until I became aware of what was really behind the great flavor. Let’s start with soybean and/or canola oil. Well, which one is it? By the way, neither one is a good option. Next is sugar, artificial flavors, calcium disodium EDTA (a preservative) and MSG. No wonder I was getting consistent migraines. I had no idea that so many of the bagged, boxed, and jarred foods I was eating contained MSG. So unfortunately, I had to say goodbye to store-bought ranch and come up with my own version that would keep my taste buds happy.
Health warning! This garlicky ranch dip is…
Low in sodium
Blood pressure friendly
Detoxifying and protective against organ damage
One word: garlic. Oh, how I love this little dried bulb of goodness. Not only is its aroma irresistible, but it has so many health benefits as well. One of my favorite supplements for preventing heart disease, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, is garlic. But you can get the same benefits by eating raw garlic daily. Remember, the sulfur-containing compound Allicin tends to lose its medicinal properties if you cook it. So just crush or mince the cloves and let it sit for 10 minutes to allow for Allicin to be released to gain any real benefits. You can also lightly cook it if your stomach can’t handle raw garlic.
