Gently exfoliating the skin twice a week is a wonderful way to deep cleanse and allow it to feel softer and look healthier. Your skin produces new skin cells nonstop every day, because the average adult can shed up to 50,000 dead skin cells every minute. During this important process some cells are left behind, clogging pores and causing breakouts. Yikes! So you can help facilitate the dead skin shedding process by gently exfoliating on a regular basis.
This peppermint sugar scrub contains three ingredients that help…
Detoxify the skin
Kill bacteria and prevent breakouts
Remove age spots and prevent skin from aging
Reduce fine lines and sun damage
Improve skin tone
Peppermint is a highly impressive herb, agreed. But did you know that peppermint essential oil is just as impressive? This special herb has a perfect combination of nutrients and minerals that are highly beneficial for your skin. It balances the pH of the skin which balances the production of excess oils, thereby reducing inflammation and acne. The main active agent of peppermint, menthol, helps to sooth discomfort while the cooling sensation nourishes dull skin by improving its texture and make your skin GLOW! It is a wonderful essential oil to massage into your skin to achieve flawless perfect skin. Just adding a couple drops of this essential oil to your bedtime routine can help you achieve the skin of your dreams.
Sugar – The sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates the skin, encouraging cell turnover and generating fresh, young looking skin. It is known to reduce signs of aging and help even skin tone. Glycolic acid is typically used to treat sun-damaged and aging skin by removing the damaged top layer, revealing a brighter more even-toned skin.
Almond oil – is a mild, hypoallergenic oil that is great for sensitive skin. It is light in texture and can easily penetrate deep into the skin, softening and dislodging dirt that may accumulate in the skins pores. It is rich in Vitamin E and Vitamin A. The Vitamin E helps prevent dehydration and repair some of the damage done to the collagen layer, while the Vitamin A helps prevent acne and can reduce acne flare-ups.
The goal to remember is to gently exfoliate away those dead skin cells. We want your skin to come out looking softer and healthier and not red and irritated. Over exfoliating can do more harm than good so remember to be gentle. For some people, a white sugar scrub may be too harsh. If you find this to be true, try brown or coconut sugar.
