Reduce inflammation and blood sugar levels with this warming cup of golden milk.
Desperate for a restful night’s sleep? I know I am! 2017 was a stressful and busy year for me and because of it I forgot to take care of me. I overindulged in too many sweets and worked too many long hours making my sleep habits, well… sleepless. This has taken a toll on my health and my looks. You know something has to change when you wake up one morning and look 10 years older. Yikes!
Amongst my own self-inflicted chaotic life, I’m starting to find peace with my living situation. Moving monthly between countries isn’t easy especially when you have to leave behind the people you love. But I’m looking at it as an adventure to self-discovery and motivation. Last year was my fist time ever living without a partner. It made me realize that I am capable of doing things on my own and that I shouldn’t rely on someone else to make me happy.
So in the meantime I’ve started this blog and decided to set goals for myself and stick to them no matter what happens in my life. And part of my goal is a self-care routine that involves this simple Turmeric & Honey Sleep Tonic. It’s a warm comforting drink that has everything needed to combat my blues and relax my nerves. It sets the tone for a restful sleep and allows my body to heal and repair. And the best part is that once you fall asleep, all the wonderful and magical healing begins.
Health warning! This Turmeric & Honey Sleep Tonic helps…
Lower blood sugar levels
Detoxify your liver
Boost your immune system.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with this miracle drink, I’m excited for this spicy, vibrant root to reveal its awesomeness to you. Turmeric is a golden spice that has been used as a medicinal herb in India for thousands of years to help aid digestion, decongest the liver, purify the blood, clear the skin, aid in sleep, and help ease inflammation. It is actually one of the most potent anti-inflammatories in nature which is why, if you are struggling with an inflammation disorder, golden milk is a drink worth trying. The main ingredient in golden milk responsible for all its amazingness is the curcumin in turmeric, a compound that is responsible for it’s vibrant orange hue. But how does this magical root help us sleep? The answer is that curcumin lowers the blood sugar levels in the body, stimulating the body to store rather than use glucose. Your blood sugar levels then remain stable throughout the night instead of fluctuating and waking you up.
But to get the most out of this powerful phytonutrient it needs to be combined with a spice or a fat. Yep, these are two key ingredients that help your body absorb curcumin. The piperine in black pepper enhances curcumins bioavailability by up to 2,000 percent. But if you are not a fan of black pepper don’t fret because using oils such as coconut or ghee will do the trick too!
